Chevrolet Silverado Multi-Flex Tailgate

The Multi-Flex Tailgate offered on the 2021 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and 2022 Silverado HD is an innovative feature that adds even more flexibility to an already versatile pickup truck. Primary Gate

There are two parts of the Multi-Flex Tailgate: the primary gate and the inner gate. The primary gate has two configurations, including the traditional tailgate that folds down and up normally.

The primary gate also has a special load stop to allow you to load longer items in the bed and keep them from slipping out. You just lay the tailgate down and fold out the inner gate to act as a load stop, adding several inches of length to the bed.

Inner Gate

The inner gate also acts as a special load stop. When the tailgate is closed, you can fold out the inner gate out into a 90-degree angle. Similar to the primary gate load stop, the inner gate load stop is higher up, so it stops stacked items from sliding out of the bed.

The inner gate can also be configured into a work surface. Instead of folding it into a 90-degree angle, lay it flat. It’s at the perfect height for working on a laptop, writing longhand, looking at documents, and more.

Bed Access

The Multi-Flex Tailgate makes it easier than ever to access your bed. When the tailgate is down, you can fold the inner gate down, creating extra space for you to step closer to the bed and reach more of your cargo.

The final configuration is the full-width step. After putting the inner gate down while the tailgate is open, you can then pull down another part of the tailgate just like with the inner gate load stop. This turns the tailgate into a step that allows you to easily step into the bed.
