Chevrolet Silverado EV vs. Ford F-150 Lightning

2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV vs. 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning | Dave Kehl Chevrolet | Mechanicsburg, OH

The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV and 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning are both cutting-edge electric pickup trucks that offer plenty of capability and the latest tech features. But when it comes down to a head-to-head comparison, the Silverado EV outpaces its rival on a variety of fronts. Here’s how the Silverado EV outshines the competition.

Affordability

A capable electric truck doesn’t have to cost a fortune. The 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV boasts a lower starting MSRP than the 2023 Ford F-150 Lightning. The entry-level Silverado EV WT model is expected to cost around $40,000, while the F-150 Lightning starts around $56,000.

Go the distance

Whether you’re on a long road trip or you’re commuting to work, you don’t want your day disrupted by a long stop at a public charging station. That’s why the Silverado EV is a better choice for your busy lifestyle — GM estimates that the Silverado EV will provide 400 miles of range on a single charge, while the F-150 Lightning only offers 320 miles of range.1 And when it’s time to charge your truck, the Silverado EV takes less time to juice up. At a DC Public Fast Charging station, the Chevy can recharge 100 miles in just 10 minutes. The F-150 Lightning charges about half as fast — it can only regain about 50-55 miles of range in the same amount of time.

More muscle

Looking for a thrilling ride? You’ll get more horsepower and torque when you choose the Silverado EV. Thanks to its Wide Open Watts mode, it can deliver up to 754 horsepower and 785 lb-ft of torque. The F-150 Lightning maxes out at just 563 horsepower and 775 lb-ft of torque. And while the 2024 Silverado EV and the F-150 Lightning are evenly matched in terms of towing capability, the 2024 Silverado EV WT model is set to surpass its Ford rival by delivering a targeted towing capacity of 20,000 pounds.

Exportable power

The Silverado EV offers more power and better range than the F-150 Lightning, so it’s no shock that this capable electric truck also delivers more exportable power from its onboard generator. The Silverado EV provides up to 10.2 kW, while the F-150 Lightning’s Pro Power Onboard feature only gives you 9.6 kW. Plus, the Silverado EV can provide long-lasting power to keep the lights on during an emergency. GM estimates that its Ultium Home system can provide power for 21 days, while the F-150 Lightning’s Intelligent Backup Power system can only offer energy that lasts 10 days.

Easier maneuvering

Whether you’re exploring off-road trails or navigating through a tight parking lot, maneuverability makes all the difference when you’re driving a truck. That’s why the Silverado EV boasts available Four-Wheel Steer, a feature you won’t find on the competition. Plus, with up to 14 available camera views, the Silverado EV is unrivaled when it comes to taking the guesswork out of trailering and maneuvering.

Smarter technology

While both the Silverado EV and the F-150 Lightning offer hands-free driving technology, the Silverado’s Super Cruise™ outpaces the competition. Super Cruise is compatible with over 200,000 miles of roads across the United States and Canada, while the F-150 Lightning’s BlueCruise technology only covers 130,000 miles of roads. And on top of that, the Silverado makes your daily drive more engaging with its 17-inch diagonal free-form infotainment screen and Google Built-In technology for easy access to Google Maps navigation, Google Play streaming, and Google Assistant voice commands.

Built for utility

The Silverado EV offers exclusive features that are designed to adapt to your demands. Unlike the Ford F-150 Lightning, the Silverado EV boasts the six-function Multi-Flex Tailgate designed to make your cargo easier to access and organize. It also offers the convenient Multi-Flex Midgate, which enables you to haul longer cargo items in the truck bed.

The 2024 Silverado EV will launch in the fall of this year, so some specs and points of comparison points may change the release date rolls near. For more information on the 2024 Chevrolet Silverado EV, contact us at Dave Kehl Chevrolet in Mechanicsburg, Ohio.
