The 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 LTD and the 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 are both great picks for busy families, hard-working contractors, and outdoor adventurers. These two models offer a few different features and options, so here’s a look at what differs between these capable trucks.

Trim Levels

Both models provide you with plenty of options, ranging from affordable and practical to upscale and luxurious. On the Chevrolet Silverado LTD, you can pick from eight trim level options: WT, Custom, Custom Trail Boss, LT, RST, LT Trail Boss, LTZ, and High Country. The newly refreshed 2022 Silverado 1500 adds one more trim level to the list — the adventure-oriented ZR2 model, which comes equipped with accessories tested and developed for grueling off-road races.

Engine Options

Both models come equipped with a 2.7-liter Turbo engine that churns out 310 horsepower. However, they differ in terms of torque output — the Silverado LTD offers and 348 lb-ft, while the refreshed pickup provides 20 percent more torque, with a GM-estimated best-in-class output of 430 lb-ft.

There’s also a difference between the 3.0-liter Duramax® Turbo-Diesel inline-six on both models. On the LTD, it offers 9,300 pounds of towing capability, while the updated Silverado maxes out with 13,300 pounds of diesel-powered towing capacity when properly equipped.[1]

Aside from those differences, you can still count on these trusty trucks to deliver reliable performance with the 5.3-liter V8, which offers 355 horsepower and 383 lb-ft of torque, as well as the 6.2-liter V8 dynamo, which maxes out at 420 horsepower, 460 lb-ft of torque, and 13,300 pounds of towing capacity.[2]

Advanced Trailering Technology

Whether you opt for the LTD or wait for the refreshed model to hit dealer lots, you’ll be getting a truck with cutting-edge trailering technology. Both models offer 15 available camera views, including the innovative Transparent Trailer View, which provides a real-time view of what’s going on behind your trailer.

These trucks also offer the Advanced Trailering System, which offers conveniences such as diagnostic checks, pre-departure checklists, and the ability to save separate trailer profiles. On top of that, Silverado models provide segment-first innovations like Trailer Theft Alert and the Electric Parking Brake Hookup Assist Tool, to make towing cargo safer and easier.

Handy Design Features

If you’re looking for a truck that can tackle the toughest jobs, you can’t go wrong with either Silverado. Both models offer best-in-class truck bed cargo volume of 89.1 cubic feet, plenty of standard truck bed tie-downs, and the Durabed, crafted from rugged roll-formed steel. Furthermore, both Silverado models make accessing your cargo a breeze thanks to the standard CornerStep rear bumper and the available six-function Multi-Flex Tailgate. This innovative tailgate can be configured into a range of helpful tools, ranging from a workbench to a bed extender, so your truck can carry longer cargo items.

Interior Appointments

The Silverado LTD provides plenty of room to stretch out — it offers best-in-class front head- and legroom. You can also equip the cabin with leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats, and opt for a power sunroof. The refreshed Silverado offers similar features, along with a fully redesigned cabin. One of the new Silverado’s most eye-catching interior features is its 13.4-inch-diagonal horizontal touchscreen, standard on the LT trim level and above.

Safety Tech

If you’re in the market for a family-friendly vehicle, both models of Silverado deliver plenty of advanced safety options. The LTD comes standard with a rear-vision camera, a Tire Pressure Monitoring System, and Teen Driver Mode to help you keep tabs on your family’s youngest drivers.

The new Silverado builds upon these features, adding Chevy Safety Assist. This bundle contains six advanced driver-assist features, including Automatic Emergency Braking, Front Pedestrian Braking, IntelliBeam® automatic high beams, Forward Collision Alert, Following Distance Indicator, and Lane Keep Assist with Lane Departure Warning. The refreshed Silverado also offers Super Cruise™ hands-free driving technology.
